Exhibit from the Field Museum in Chicago, exploring the ancient and modern uses of the cacao bean, whose dense seed pods and bitter taste been used as food, currency, and more over the past 1,500 years. Headed to The White House
Students and families will have the opportunity to connect with the excitement, pageantry, and importance of presidential elections with the new exhibition, Headed to the White House, developed by the National Constitution Center. The 3,000 square foot exhibition will debut on January 17 to coincide with the January 20 inauguration of a new American president. Visitors will be engaged in the sights, sounds, and excitement of presidential elections from the moment they cross the gallery threshold. Once visitors enter the exhibition, they are introduced to the electoral process with three audio-visual zones highlighting the historic elections of 1840 (Martin Van Buren vs. William H. Harrison), 1932 (Herbert Hoover vs. Franklin Delano Roosevelt), and 2008, before walking through a large, graphic image of the White House and onto the campaign trail. BRAIN: THE WORLD INSIDE YOUR HEAD
Designed to appeal to audiences of all ages, BRAIN employs innovative special effects, 3-D reproductions, virtual reality, hands-on learning activities and interactive technology to delve into the inner workings of the brain, including its processes, potentials and mysteries. Speed
It's the fastest exhibit ever at Omaha Children's Museum! With our society going ever faster these days, Speed chronicles our cultural and technological fascination with a 6,000 square-foot experience that transports guests into the world of high performance, barrier smashing motion. Racing cars, planes boats and eccentric custom vehicles, are featured in the exhibit which engages guests of all backgrounds and ages. The experiences focus on the science and technology of pushing the envelope to achieve record setting speed while explaining the limits of getting there. The Firebird
The Russian legend of magic and mystery springs to life in this stunning production of the famous classical ballet that is based on folk tales of a magical glowing bird that is both a blessing and a curse to its captors. This Expo will pack the arena center with diverse exhibits, special events and speakers. Event takes place Saturday from 10-6 p.m. and Sunday from 11-5:00 p.m. at the Qwest Center, located at 455 N. 10th Street. Easter Extravaganza at Lauritzen Gardens
Please join us for a very special Easter celebration in the garden! Children's "carrot craft" activities and photos with the Easter Bunny precede a unique egg hunt in the garden's arboretum. The café will open at 9 a.m., allowing visitors to grab coffee or breakfast before starting on all the exciting activities. Annual Omaha Health Expo
Everything to do with health, wellness, and fitness and the mind, body, & spirit! The premiere event in the greater Omaha area. Last year over 250 exhibitors and over 50 seminars for the 2 day event. A walk to benefit the American Lung Association is on Sat 4/25 and a bike ride is on Sun 4/26. Event takes place at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, located at 18th and Capitol. Arbor Day Family Event
Families will enjoy a morning of fun activities dedicated to trees. Tree walks, discovery stations and other activities will take place throughout the garden. Families will learn about the many products made from trees and take an in-depth look at leaves, bark and fruit. Children will make a tree-trunk necklace and create bark art. Registration is not required, and all activities are free with paid garden admission or membership. Event takes place from 10- 1:00 p.m. at Lauritzen Gardens located at 100 Bancroft Street.

The National Epilepsy Walk
The National Epilepsy Walk will be making its way to Omaha, NE on March 28, 2009 inside the Crossroads Mall located at 7400 Dodge Street South Entrance. Registration begins at 9:00am with the walk taking place from 9:30-11:00am. There will be staff, nurses and fellow parents available and armed with information on this chronic brain disorder. By supporting the walk in Omaha, Nebraska or by virtual world via the website www.walkforepilepsy.org, you are becoming a part of the largest event for education and awareness in the 40-year history of the Epilepsy Foundation. Register at www.walkforepilepsy.org, join team Nebraskan's Advocating for Epilepsy and be part of what Nebraska is doing to spread the word about epilepsy. When you register, the $35 registration fee goes as a donation directly to Nebraska and you will receive a T-Shirt.
