Students Are Invited To Participate In Essay Contest

 

United Way of the Midlands’ Volunteer Resource Center invites students to pay tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. by writing an essay on their dreams and visions for our community.The Youth Volunteer Services Committee will choose three finalists in each grade category: elementary, middle and high school. There will be a $75, $50 and $25 award in each category. All applicants will receive a certificate of participation.

All entries must be dated on/or before January 4, 2012.  Winners will be announced at an event on January 16, 2012. All participants are invited to attend.

Eligibility for the MLK Jr. Day Essay Contest:
All entries must be 500 words or less. Youth must reside in Douglas or Sarpy County in Nebraska, or Mills or Pottawattamie County in Iowa and be enrolled in elementary, middle or high school; home-schooled students are eligible too.

All entries must be dated on/or before January 4, 2012.

Decisions made by the Committee are final.  All submissions become property of the United Way of the Midlands’ Volunteer Resource Department.
